Town Planning Apprentice

KateI live in Enfield, so having the opportunity to do something where I feel I am making a difference to the place where I live is what drew me in.

Working as an apprentice in within the Planning department is an exciting opportunity. Enfield has such diverse landscapes with rural and urban areas, with a wide range of land use needs. There is a vast array of areas and as an apprentice, I will do a placement in each team. This will show me how each team across Planning is working towards the same goal of ensuring everyone in Enfield enjoys living, learning, working in or visiting here.

It's quite daunting signing up for an apprenticeship until 2027. But knowing that the Council’s willing to commit to me, meant that I could commit to my own personal development. I was lucky enough to be put forward for the PPMA Apprentice of the year 2023 and proudly made it to be a finalist. I couldn’t have done it without the support of the apprentice team here at Enfield and my manager, and their belief in my abilities.

Everyone in my department is all about teamwork, so you can go to anyone if you have a question, they’ll either point you in the right direction or they’re going to help you solve it together.
