Housing Development Manager
I joined Enfield through Public Practice, which is designed to bring placemaking professionals from the private sector into local authorities.
I am a Development Manager within Housing Development, which manages the house building process from beginning to end. We work with colleagues across the Council to identify the number of homes we need to build, where they can be built, and how they will best serve the needs of our communities. That’s why we also work closely with existing residents, throughout the project, to ensure they are happy with the new development and that they also might derive some benefit themselves, such as new recreational spaces.
Taking responsibility is key for me because work is what you make it. Alongside my job, I am the Resource and Processes Lead for the Staff Disability Working Group. Taking on this extra responsibility to improve support for our disabled staff is really rewarding and has been useful for understanding more about accessibility requirements in our offices, homes and public spaces.
The Council has really supported me over the past four years. I work compressed hours over four days and that’s given me a much better work life balance and I think actually makes me a better employee.
