Introduction
The Youth Offending Cohort (YOC) refers to young people who get into trouble with the law, including those who:
- get in trouble with police or who are arrested
- are charged with a crime and have to go to court
- are convicted with a crime and are given a sentence
The YOC have complex health needs that differ from the general population of younger people, these needs are explored in the JSNA profile below.

- Use of healthcare services, GP registration and Physical health
- Substance and alcohol misuse
