See if you can save money by changing energy suppliers with the "Big Energy Switch"
Residents in Enfield have another chance to find cheaper deals on gas and electricity through collective energy switching, a scheme that helps residents club together to secure lower energy prices by using a third party ‘switching provider’.
Enfield Council is joining 23 other London boroughs to support London Councils deliver the next phase of the ‘Big London Energy Switch’ in May 2016.
Since April 2013, there have been ten previous ‘Big London Energy Switch’ auctions. These have helped over 10,500 London residents switch energy suppliers and save an average of approximately £200 on their energy bills. Enfield residents have saved an average of about £250.
Particular focus is again being given to deprived communities and vulnerable residents at a time of rising energy costs.
Residents have until midnight on Monday 16th May to register. Information will then be sent to everyone who has registered and offers are expected from about 30th May.
There is no obligation to accept the offer to switch energy supplier and savings are not always guaranteed - this will depend on how much energy you use and your current tariff.
The auction contributes to the ‘Enfield 2020’ sustainability programme, which includes a number of projects aiming to introduce better ways to save energy; reduce carbon emissions and to protect the environment.
Cllr Alan Sitkin, Enfield Council’s Cabinet Member for Economic Regeneration and Business Development, said: “Enfield Council is actively trying to make its residents better off by helping them obtain cheaper gas and electricity. In these days when every penny counts I would urge as many people as possible to sign up and save on their energy bills.
“It’s quick and easy and you could be quids in.”
