The lifetime work and special achievements of 25 Enfield volunteers has been recognised at a special awards ceremony.
Enfield Council’s Cabinet Member for Community Safety and Cohesion, Cllr Gina Needs presented certificates and medals to volunteers to celebrate the effort and commitment they have shown over many years.
The Enfield Lifetime Achievement and Special Recognition Volunteer Awards ceremony took place on Friday 26 April in the Council Chamber at Enfield Civic Centre.
The awards recognise volunteers that go above and beyond in their volunteering role, who may have taken on one or more special initiatives to help others, and those who have shown exceptional long service in Enfield.
The two categories included the Lifetime Achievement Award, in recognition of an individual’s long-term commitment to volunteering, to celebrate the effort and dedication they have shown over a number of years; and the Special Recognition Award for individual volunteers who have given exceptional service to others, particularly over the past year.
Cllr Gina Needs said: “I would like to say a big thank you to all the exceptional volunteers I met and presented awards to. It was an honour to meet such dedicated Enfield people. The award winners have gone above and beyond and continue to make a real difference to residents’ lives.
“I would encourage anyone with an interest in volunteering to find out more about the current opportunities available in Enfield, so we can work together to help those most in need and make the borough a better place to live.”
The annual Lifetime Achievement and Special Recognition Volunteer Awards was launched in December 2021 to recognise and to celebrate volunteering effort and commitment.
The winners were chosen from nominations made by residents, voluntary organisations and community groups.
There are countless opportunities in the borough to get involved in volunteering – from litter picking and maintenance with the Friends of Enfield’s parks to helping in local libraries.
Enfield Voluntary Action works closely with Enfield Council to help people and community groups access the knowledge, skills and resources to make a real impact in the borough.
