After thorough investigation, Enfield Council has successfully prosecuted two men for two separate fly tipping incidents that took place in Morson Road in Enfield.
Council officers studied CCTV footage from a mobile Council waste enforcement camera, that showed evidence of Junior Bisima unlawfully dumping various items of waste in Morson Road on 11 September 2023.
He was summoned to Highbury Corner Magistrates’ Court on 2 May 2024.
Junior Bisima from Enfield (N13) pleaded guilty contrary to section 33 (1) (a) of the Environmental Protection Act 1990 and was handed a 12-month community order by a judge, to undertake 60 hours of unpaid work and pay the Council’s costs.
The Council has also brought a further fly tipping investigation to court.
Lovepreet Singh from Ilford, east London, fly tipped a van rear door in Morson Road on 10 January 2024. He was captured committing the environmental crime on a Council mobile CCTV waste enforcement camera.
On 15 April 2024, Lovepreet Singh attended an interview under caution at Enfield Civic Centre with the Council’s senior waste enforcement officers, where he admitted to fly tipping the van door.
He was summoned to appear at Highbury Corner Magistrates Court on 25 July 2024 for contravening section 33 (1) (a) of the Environmental Protection Act 1990.
Lovepreet Singh failed to attend the court hearing and a warrant was issued for his arrest.
Cabinet Member for Transport and Waste at Enfield Council, Cllr Rick Jewell, said: “I’d like to thank the Council’s waste enforcement team for their tireless work and expertise in gathering evidence to help bring fly tippers to justice.
“There is never any excuse to dump your waste on our streets. By working together with our residents, we can identify those who fly tip in the borough and continue with our work to eradicate this unacceptable anti-social behaviour.”
