Enfield Council will be supporting and recognising the heroic people who work for the NHS and the emergency (blue light) services on national Emergency Services Day
Cllr Gina Needs, Cabinet Member for Community Safety and Cohesion at Enfield Council, said: “In Enfield, Emergency Services Day this year will be commemorated on Sunday 8 September, as we celebrate the invaluable work of the personnel who work in and run our emergency services 24 hours a day and seven days a week.
“Emergency Services Day takes place nationally every September and exists to educate people to use the emergency services responsibly. It’s also an opportunity for those working in 999 services to meet people in the local communities they serve.
“I am looking forward to meeting Emergency Services workers at a special event which is being held at Enfield Civic Centre in Silver Street on Sunday 8 September.
“I would like to invite you and your families and friends to join us as we give thanks and recognition to those who work in the blue light services and keep us safe.
“At Enfield Council, we have a close relationship with Emergency Services teams. Colleagues in social services, transport and highways, public health and many other areas will have daily contact with the NHS and emergency services teams, to ensure local people are protected and supported.
“I would encourage those who are considering a future career in working for one of the emergency services in the UK to investigate the current opportunities available.
“The Metropolitan Police for example has recently launched a new campaign #ChangeNeedsYou to help recruit new police officers from all ages and backgrounds. There are also many volunteering opportunities available in the NHS
“To coincide with an Emergency Services Day, we have teamed up with Enfield Market and Palace Gardens Shopping Centre who will be hosting Emergency Services Day related events from 12pm to 4pm on Sunday 8 September.
“The events will include practical demonstrations by our blue light services. St John Ambulance and British Transport Police will also be there to answer any questions, and local craft maker, Boho Flo, will be holding an emergency services themed craft workshop for young people. Come and join us.”
