Full steam ahead for Angel Edmonton's transformation

Enfield Council has secured the release of £11.9 million in funding from the government for transformative improvements to the Angel Edmonton area.

Following nearly a year of anticipation, this significant milestone, confirmed in the Chancellor’s Budget, will enable the Council to deliver 11 transformative projects, developed in collaboration with the local community that will shape a brighter future for Angel Edmonton.

The overall plans for Upper Edmonton support a new vision for the area, shaping the town centre to become a place for learning new skills, experiencing culture and connecting with local communities. The projects are designed to support housing delivery and will enhance public spaces and safety.

The programme funded by the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government, also focuses on improving links to support public transport, walking, and cycling. Additionally, it will promote health and wellbeing while bolstering community infrastructure.

Enfield Council’s Cabinet Member for Placemaking, Cllr Sabri Ozaydin, said: “This investment marks a strong commitment to the future of Angel Edmonton, laying the foundation for a thriving, inclusive, and resilient community. By creating new jobs, encouraging active travel, and fostering an inclusive and resilient local economy, we are building a future for Angel Edmonton where everyone can thrive.

“This initiative is a testament to the Council’s dedication to improving the quality of life for all residents and ensuring that Angel Edmonton continues to grow and prosper.”

The Council will be working closely with local residents, businesses, community groups, Transport for London, the Met Police, and many other partners to design and deliver this comprehensive programme. This collaborative approach ensures the projects will meet the needs and aspirations of the Angel Edmonton community.
