The borough’s top-performing students with exceptional GCSE results were celebrated at a High Achievers Evening hosted by Enfield Council.
Seventeen schools in Enfield put forward students who excelled by achieving some of the highest grades across various subjects, including languages, sciences, technology, engineering or maths.
Headteachers, school staff, parents and carers were invited to a special ceremony at Highlands School on 21 November to congratulate students. They received certificates from the Mayor of Enfield Cllr Mohammad Islam, and Cllr Abdul Abdullahi, the Cabinet Member for Children’s Service.
The High Achievers’ Evening also featured representatives from prestigious universities such as Imperial College London to discuss university course choices, a panel session on higher education and a Careers and Progression Market Place for young people to seek advice.
Cllr Abdul Abdullahi, said: “Congratulations to all the students that worked incredibly hard to secure the grades they desired. It is important, as a borough, that we celebrate their achievements through events like this and help them progress further in their education journey.
“In Enfield, 98 per cent of schools are rated ‘Good’ or higher by Ofsted, which is a testament to all the school leaders and teaching staff that have helped students reach their full potential.”
Enfield Council is committed to improving educational outcomes for all children through early access to opportunities and the right resources.
The Council would like to express its thanks to St Peter’s College, Oxford and Newnham College, Cambridge who sponsored the High Achievers’ Evening and to Highlands School for hosting.
