Residents in Enfield have another chance to find cheaper deals on gas and electricity through collective energy switching, a scheme that helps residents club together to secure lower energy prices by using a third party ‘switching provider’.
Enfield Council is joining 18 other London boroughs to deliver the next phase of the ‘Big London Energy Switch’ on 13 February.
Since April 2013, there have been 15 ‘Big London Energy Switch’ auctions. These have helped around 14,000 London residents switch energy suppliers and save an average of approximately £210 on their energy bills. Enfield residents have saved an average of £245.
Particular focus will be given to deprived communities and vulnerable residents at a time of rising energy costs.
Cllr Alan Sitkin, Enfield Council’s Cabinet Member for Economic Regeneration and Business Development, said: “Enfield Council is actively trying to make its residents better off by helping them obtain cheaper gas and electricity. In these days when every penny counts I would urge as many people as possible to sign up and save on their energy bills.
“This sort of project helps to build strong and resilient communities and has the benefit of it being quick and easy for residents to participate in.”
There is no obligation to accept the offer to switch energy supplier and savings are not always guaranteed - this will depend on how much energy you use and your current tariff.
