Families need support for many reasons. Perhaps struggling to cope with postnatal illness, a child’s disability, family breakdown or bereavement, or they may be feeling isolated, overwhelmed and unable to connect with the local community.
Whatever the reason, Home-Start provides non-judgemental, practical and emotional support to help build the family’s confidence and ability to cope. Home-Start works preventatively with parents and children, and believes that all parents know that those early years before children go off to school are vital in a child’s life and parents have a key role in creating a secure childhood for their children. It’s just that sometimes they need a bit of help.
Home-Start offers outreach support in the family’s own home by staff and volunteers who are parents themselves, or have parenting experience and some of whom have been helped by Home-Start in the past.
