Join Enfield’s Green Business Accreditation Pilot Scheme
Apply today to join the Green Business Accreditation Scheme (GBAS) and get a free, internationally recognised, Environmental Accreditation from Green Mark.
We created the exciting scheme to encourage businesses to understand their environmental impacts and take measurable steps to reduce them. The aim is to help businesses thrive in a changing landscape while also helping them take advantage of the benefits of sustainability, such as:
- reduced energy bills
- increased engagement
- the development of a structured framework for fostering sustainable business growth
This initiative not only supports the council’s commitment to sustainability but also helps businesses attract eco-conscious customers.
The Pilot Scheme
This initiative is open to all local businesses with up to 25 employees. As part of this pilot scheme, the Council will fund 15 businesses to take part – providing a unique opportunity to enhance their environmental credentials at no cost.
The council aims to provide support and establish a network of businesses working together to make the borough greener. Since the number of funded places is limited, businesses who were unable to get a free place are welcome to sign up as a paid-for service (regardless of scale). These businesses will enjoy the benefits of being a part of the cohort, with significant media attention and free marketing, increasing their visibility and reputation within the community.
By utilising the Green Mark sustainability professionals, businesses can fully control their environmental impact, pledging to improve their sustainability and reduce emissions through the Green Mark Accreditation framework.
How to qualify
To qualify for the GBAS, your business must be an SME with up to 25 employees based in Enfield. Businesses that sign up will commit to the process and the capacity required to complete it.
With just 8 to 12 hours spread over 6 weeks, your business will be accredited and awarded a certification pack. The pack includes badges and certificates that can be displayed on storefronts and websites – providing a visible and recognisable symbol of your sustainable achievements and commitment to reducing your environmental impact.
The process
- Step 1 – sign up for this scheme below
- Step 2 – once the scheme is closed, successful businesses gain access to the online portal where they can explore and complete user-friendly questionnaires
- Step 3 – you can also download template documents, help files and guidance notes
- Step 4 – our sustainability team will be there every step of the way to:
- support you
- help you to identify areas for improvement/savings
- achieve accreditation over the 12-month period
The accreditation process helps businesses to:
- understand the environmental impacts and take easy steps to reduce them
- communicate their sustainability efforts to their customers and other key stakeholders
- optimise efficiency and reduce costs
How to apply
This pilot scheme is limited to 15 Enfield businesses. If you're interested in participating, please sign up by filling in the form by the closing date of 13 December 2024. The application window will close early if the Council thinks there are enough applications for this scheme.
