In-year admissions
If you have moved, you can apply to change primary school during the school year. This is called an 'in-year primary admission'.
You can also apply if you want your child to go to a different primary school.
If your child is in year 6 of primary school, a move at this stage of their education is discouraged and should only be considered in exceptional circumstances.
Important information
The Enfield Schools Admission Service receives many applications and processes them as quickly as possible. You should get a response within 15 school days.
Submitting an in-year primary application
You can apply for most schools in Enfield and list up to 6 school preferences.
If places are available, we will offer you the highest preference possible.
Make sure you research the schools to help you make the right school preferences for your child, including finding your nearest.
Some schools, like academies, voluntary aided and foundation schools may need extra information. This is often called a 'supplementary information form' and should be sent directly to the school.
Only apply if you need a school place as soon as possible. Once a place is offered, your child will be expected to start within a couple of weeks.

- Download the In-year primary school application form (PDF, 645.97 KB), complete it, and send it along with the required documentation (copies of 2 proofs of address, and 1 proof of the child’s date of birth). Missing documents can delay the processing of your application.
- Send the completed form and supporting documents by email to esas@enfield.gov.uk, or by post to the address on the application form

These are only a guide as we use our own specialist systems to measure distances when allocating places in Enfield.
Schools you should apply to directly
There are some schools that parents need to apply to directly, rather than through Enfield Council. These schools are listed below:

School applications for foreign national children and children resident outside England
The government has recently updated their guidance about the admission of foreign national children and children resident outside England.
Parents must check that their children have a right under their UK entry conditions to study at a school before applying. State-funded schools and local authorities do not need to ask for proof of eligibility before offering a place.
Applications for school places can be made through the usual admissions process. You can find information about how to do this on this website.
Families arriving from Ukraine may find it helpful to read this information from the UK Government - How do families arriving from Ukraine apply for a school place and childcare? / Як родинам, що приїжджають з України, подавати заяви на отримання місць у школі та допомоги з оплати послуг з догляду за дитиною?
When you have made your application, we will aim to let you know the outcome in writing within 15 school days. If it is not possible to offer a place at a school you have requested, you will be advised of where an offer can be made.
Requesting medical priority
If you want your child's application to be considered under the medical criterion, see our medical priority guidance.
Please note that not all schools have this as part of their admission arrangements.
