Introduction
There are three area partnerships in the borough. These are:
- South East Enfield partnership
- North Enfield partnership
- South West Enfield partnership
Area partnership boards bring together important local stakeholders including:
- residents
- the council
- NHS and health representatives from Enfield's Clinical Commissioning Groups
- the police
- representatives from the voluntary and community sector
- representatives from schools and colleges
- employers and officers from JobCentre Plus
The area partnerships intend to:
- gather information at a local level
- map facilities and services within the community
- help shape the physical and social regeneration of Enfield's priority regeneration areas
The board members work together to set out tangible and measurable objectives for each of the boards’ priorities.
The shared priorities for each of the partnerships are working towards a community that is:
- more cohesive
- healthier
- more prosperous
- safer
Meetings are managed through the Business and Economic Development team. This means they also cover employment and local labour market issues as an element of the four priorities listed above.

South East Enfield partnership
The South East Enfield partnership covers:
- Jubilee
- Edmonton Green
- Upper Edmonton
- Lower Edmonton
- Haselbury and Bush Hill Park
- the industrial estates in the South East of the borough
- Angel Road
- Fore Street
- the Meridian Water delivery area
The aim of this partnership is to:
- improve neighbourhoods
- join up the activities of all the agencies in the locality
- engage with the community
Edmonton has huge potential because it:
- accommodates a major transport interchange
- has a number of heritage assets
- is located on the fringe of the Lee Valley Opportunity Area
However, there is a range of complex and persistent social and economic issues facing residents of the area, These include:
- low levels of educational attainment
- unemployment
- low skill levels and a lack of appropriate training facilities
- lack of community cohesion
- poor health linked to deprivation and a lack of community and health facilities
- crime and fear of crime
- drug use and anti-social behaviour
Edmonton Partnership Initiative
The Edmonton Partnership Initiative (EPI) is a major regeneration scheme aimed at improving the following conditions in the area:
- economic
- environmental
- housing
- shopping
- social
- transport
It is a partnership between:
- the council
- residents
- traders
- private sector
- voluntary sectors
There are two projects at the heart of the initiative. One is the housing regeneration programme in partnership with Housing Associations and the other is the redevelopment of Edmonton Green Shopping Centre in collaboration with St Modwen Properties Plc.
An important aspect of the initiative has been the involvement of the local community and partner organisations to ensure that the scheme provides real community benefits.
North Enfield partnership
The North Enfield partnership area covers:
- Turkey Street
- Enfield Lock
- Enfield Highway
- Ponders End
- Southbury
- Town
- Grange
- Chase
The east of the borough has tracts of strategically important industrial land. This includes Brimsdown, London's second largest industrial estate. Brimsdown includes Innova Business Park, which has a mix of employment, residential and community uses.
However, the area also has some of the borough’s worst deprivation. A programme of social regeneration needs to complement the current physical regeneration works in the area.
The key to the success of the partnership is:
- cooperation between residents’ representatives and key strategic partners
- commitment from members to share information and work harmoniously
- pooling resources to avoid duplication of effort
- keeping a clear set of priorities
South West Enfield partnership
The South West Enfield partnership area covers:
- Bowes
- Cockfosters
- Highlands
- Southgate Green
- Palmers Green
- Southgate
- Winchmore Hill
It has been identified as one of the borough's 'strategic growth areas'.
