We host many events at community hubs to have fun, reduce loneliness, and connect people to their local community.
Coffee and Chat – every Tuesday at Edmonton Green Hub, from 10am to 11am, and every Wednesday at Enfield Town Hub, from 10am to 11am. We provide coffee and tea, and invite council partners to interact with customers, offering helpful services. For example, heart failure nurses attend to give advice and help.
Stories, Songs and Chat – every Wednesday at Edmonton Green Hub, from 10am to 11am, with our library service. We sing songs, read stories, and then have coffee and a chat. This allows parents and carers to connect and learn about available support.
Enfield Council also runs The Business and Intellectual Property Centre (BIPC) Enfield, which offers free support for entrepreneurs, start-ups, and established businesses. They often host networking events with local residents and business. Once you start volunteering with the community hubs, we can connect you with the BIPC team to explore more volunteering opportunities.
Our events are community-led and rely on the fantastic help of volunteers like you!
Purpose of role
Events volunteers will assist community hub staff in running regular events. This may include:
- setting up, arranging furniture, cleaning, packing away, and organising food and supplies
- welcoming people, making them feel comfortable, and ensuring no one is left alone
- connecting people, curating community and conversations
- informing people about community hubs, and preventative services, such as diabetes tests or oral health
- alerting a hubs ambassador if someone needs more complex support
- bring new people to events by reaching out in the local area, for example visiting betting shops
- providing feedback on events, and suggesting improvements
When you can volunteer
During our event times!
For 'Coffee and Chat', we ask volunteers to come from 9:30am to 11:30am on the day (Tuesdays and Wednesdays).
For 'Stories, Songs and Chat', we ask volunteers to come from 9:45am to 11:30am on the day (every Wednesday during school term-time).
We may host other events in the future, and may need your help to run them!
