Homes for all
Good quality, affordable and family housing is a key priority for the council. A range of analysis has been undertaken of both housing need and potential sites that can contribute to meeting this. This includes the Housing and Economic Land Availability Assessment which quantifies the availability of land in Enfield. The Enfield Local Plan sets out the ambition to deliver a minimum of 33,280 homes by 2041 in Enfield.

Appropriate transport infrastructure is fundamental to development in Enfield, to support growth, relieve pressure on Enfield’s transport network and reduce the impact of travel whilst maintaining freedom and ability to move.

Environmental protection
Enfield borough has high environmental quality in most areas, which needs protecting, while certain areas would benefit from environmental improvements. Therefore, protecting the environment involves actions such as maintaining or improving air quality, and minimising or reducing nuisance affecting human senses, such as noise and odour.
Visitor studies also show that residents of Enfield travel out of the borough to protected areas, such as Epping Forest for recreation, and that this has impacts on those areas.

Infrastructure planning
Enfield’s Infrastructure Delivery Plan (IDP) identifies the different types of infrastructure that will be required to meet future growth needs of the borough, and outlines the strategies for their delivery and phasing to support new development. The IDP is a living document which will be updated on a regular basis as new information and evidence become available.
Viability
This report tests the ability of a range of development types throughout the borough of Enfield to viably meet the emerging planning policy requirements set out in Enfield’s Regulation 19 Local Plan. The study tests the cumulative impact of the council’s requirements, in line with the requirements of the national planning policy framework.
