Stories of Enfield

Celebrating Enfield’s Community Heritage

Stories of Enfield logo

Stories of Enfield was a borough wide cultural heritage programme delivered by Enfield Council and funded by the National Lottery Heritage Fund.

Grant funding enabled organisations across the borough to research and share Enfield’s history. This includes a vanished Tudor palace in Forty Hall Estate and the exquisite 19th century arts and crafts windows in Christ Church Southgate as well as Bangladeshi migration stories in Edmonton and the life of Palmers Green poet Stevie Smith.

Twelve community groups from across the borough received funding to celebrate local heritage. Their projects reveal the people, places, objects, and stories that help to make Enfield special. They showcase the borough’s unique history and identity and the shared bond between all residents.

All stories were developed and delivered by community organisations in Enfield between September 2021 and November 2022.
