Pymmes BrookERS (short for ‘Pymmes Brook Restorers’), are a group of Londoners who want to improve the condition of the Pymmes and Salmons Brooks.

River of Stories

The Pymmes Brook flows through some of the most densely urbanized parts of Enfield, where the river is often neglected. Yet stretches are beautiful and natural, with meanders and wooded banks.

The River of Stories project introduced residents of Enfield to the Pymmes Brook through a series of guided walks. Participants were asked how they see the river, what place it has in their lives and to imagine what the river could be like, walking and talking the river into being.

These perceptions of the river were recast and spoken by a performance poet, then overlaid onto film footage of the river. These personal stories reflect the importance of the Pymmes Brook to communities in Enfield.
