For a fee, we can install a footway channel in the pavement so you can run a charger cable from your property to charge an electric vehicle on the road. If your application is approved, this will be subject to an annual licence fee.
You should read the application letter and form (PDF, 315.8 KB) before you decide whether to apply.

Apply for a footway channel
To apply, you will need to pay the non-refundable application fee (unless you can provide a copy of your Blue Badge). If you pay online, you will need to forward the payment confirmation email to us at fwaychannel@enfield.gov.uk (we do not accept screenshots). Then also email your completed application or send it to:
Crossover Helpdesk
Highway Services
Enfield Council
PO Box 52
Civic Centre

After you apply, we will visit your property to assess your application and let you know the outcome within 6 weeks.
If we find that you need to carry out works on your property to prevent the charger cable from lifting the lid of the channel at the entry point, you will need to arrange this. You should only start works on your property if you have received our written approval for the footway channel.
We will send you a quote for the provision and installation of the footway channel and the first year’s licence fee. The renewal fee will become due on the anniversary of the licence issue date each year.
Once any required works have been completed, and checked and approved, we will ask for payment. We aim to install your footway channel within 8 weeks of receiving your payment.
